From the parabolic arc of a winning shot to the vectors that help players create effective offensive and defensive strategies, to the exchange of kinetic and potential energy that allows players to dribble, the game of basketball is science in motion. This inaugural Science and Arts Engagement New York pop-up exhibit invites visitors to touch the science of basketball, to interact with their heroes and learn how to harness the power of science to improve their game both on and off the court. We will explore the physics, neuroscience and biology of basketball with the help of new technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality; as well as carefully designed exhibit modules that will maintain the rigor and nuance of the science while communicating the complex information in interactive, somatic and visually compelling ways.
